A buyer, also called a purchaser or procurement department, is an organizational unit responsible for acquiring goods or services from suppliers, vendors, or sellers. The roll of the buyer encompasses various activities, including sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, placing purchase orders, receiving goods or services, and processing invoices for payment. A small company might have only one buyer, the company itself, whereas larger companies might have multiple buyers that represent subsidiaries or other sub-organizations.
