Notification services

Notification services keep you up to date and in touch with vital processes taking place in the system. When you enable notification services, you can subscribe to various system events and receive automated notices when they occur. You can choose to receive notifications via email (SMTP), or they can be posted to a web page on your own server (HTTP).

When HTTP notification fails

Sometimes an HTTP notification cannot reach its destination, for example, if the receiving server is down. When this happens, or when an HTTP notification fails for any reason, Tungsten AP Essentials will resend the notification at the following intervals:

  • 15 seconds
  • 5 minutes
  • 1 hour
  • 2 hours
  • 4 hours
  • every fourth hour for 7 days

In other words, a notification is sent 15 seconds after the event is triggered. If the first attempt fails, the service tries again in 5 minutes, and so on. If there is no response after 4 hours, Tungsten AP Essentials will continue to try to send the HTTP notification every four hours for 7 days.

When email (SMTP) notification fails

If an email notification does not reach its destination, the mail server resends the email every hour with a maximum of 40 attempts.
